GMG Recognised for Excellence in Labour Practices at Emirates Labour Market Award 2025

Everyday Goods – Retail division earns third place in the Establishments – Trade Sector category, highlighting GMG’s commitment to employee empowerment and best-in-class labour practices

Dubai, UAE, 14 November 2025GMG, a global well-being and retail conglomerate, has been awarded third place in the Establishments – Trade Sector category at the third edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award for its Everyday Goods – Retail division. The recognition highlights GMG’s continued efforts to foster a people-first culture, promote employee empowerment, and implement best-in-class labour practices across its operations.

The Emirates Labour Market Award is an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) that recognises organisations demonstrating exceptional performance in human resource management and uphold excellence in employment relationships across the UAE.

Held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). GMG was honoured by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, in the presence of senior government officials and MoHRE representatives.

GMG’s Everyday Goods – Retail division currently operates over 55 stores, and manages leading supermarket brands such as Géant, Franprix, Monoprix, and monop. Following its acquisition of aswaaq, GMG added 19 supermarkets to its portfolio, further strengthening its contribution to the UAE’s food security and retail growth.

As part of its employee development strategy, the division equips its frontline employees through the GO EXTRA Frontliner Training Programme, which enhances their skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This reflects GMG’s ongoing investment in people development and operational excellence.

This year’s edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award, 100 winners were honoured out of approximately 18,000 applications. Under the Establishments Category, which recognizes pioneering companies in the UAE labour market, winners were announced across 10 subcategories and were selected following thorough evaluations by specialised committees, based on comprehensive governance standards that ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity at every stage.
